Banco di Sardegna Sassari was in a do-or-die situation in Round 6 of the Basketball Champions League Group D, and they needed a win by at least nine points to move ahead of King Szczecin – they delivered.

With a resounding 97-81 victory at Palaserradimigni over the Polish side, Sassari players secured their place in the Play-Ins. They went through to the Play-Ins as third, while Szczecin finished at the bottom of Group D.

Breein Tyree had an outstanding game for the winners with 26 points and six assists. Stephane Gombauld followed with 15 points, while Vasilis Charalampopoulpos added 14 with seven rebounds. Stefano Gentile also finished in double figures with 11 points.

Andrzej Mazurczak led Szczecin with 19 points, Tony Meier added 18, while Michal Nowakowski followed with 17, in what proved to be the last game in the BCL for the Polish team this season, since Ludwigsburg defeated AEK Athens and moved to second place, while Sassari will accompany the German side in the Play-Ins.
