Both Telekom Baskets Bonn and MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg started their Round of 16 campaigns on the winning end, respectively beating Galatasaray and JDA Dijon on the road.

Facing each other in the Basketball Champions League German derby, Roel Moors’ team found the 80-75 win at home, dragged by a great performance by Thomas Kennedy, who went close to a double-double with 20 points and 9 rebounds.

Noah Kirkwood added 17 points and 3/5 from beyond the arc. Sam Griesel scored his BCL career-high 20 points in last week’s win over Galatasaray, after scoring in single digits in each of his first five appearances in the competition, but today he only had 1 point in 16:33 minutes of action.

Jonathan Bähre tried his best to keep MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg in contention, providing 12 points and 6 rebounds in an effortless performance.

At 38 years of age, Yorman Polas Bartolo had 13 points for the black-and-yellow team. Eddy Edigin ended with a team’s high 22-PIR night, 13 points, and 9 boards.

For the first time, MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg lost on the road in the competition against German teams. The first two happened during the 2017-18 season, winning both games away against Oldenburg and medi Bayreuth.
