Dragging by seven points (20-13) to enter the second quarter, Promitheas Patras bounced back in Hungary against Hapoel Holon, escaping from the neutral site with a 74-65 victory.

Anthony Cowan led Promitheas Patras with 18 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 rebounds in the win on the road. Chris Coffey had also a pretty good showing under the rim, being close to a double-double of 6 points and 10 rebounds, while Jaime Echenique added 9 points and 4 boards.

Being named the first 2024 Basketball Champions League MVP of the Month for January, Hunter Hale followed his backcourt teammate with 16 points despite shooting 5/13 from the field. Shooting 4/8 from beyond the arc, he has now scored at least three-pointers in his last five games in the competition.

Suffering from the absence of the injured Justin Smith, had to rely on Netanel Artzi, who had 18 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists after being named into January’s BCL Team of the Month. Shawn Dawson also scored 18 points in his team’s defeat.

In the second half, Ilias Papatheodorou’s team had a 9-0 run to escape with the victory. Overall, they dominated the encounter at the rim with 16 rebounds more (46 vs 30) than their opponents, while they also had the advantage in points in the paint (28 vs 16) and from the bench (38 vs 12).

Unlike AEK – the other Greek team in Group L -, Promitheas can now stand on some victories at 2-1. The black-and-yellow side is at the bottom with 0-3, while UCAM Murcia is on top with a 3-0 record. Hapoel Holon is now third with a 1-2 record.
