A new player for Hapoel Holon in the form of Tahjere McCall.

McCall, 29, is set to debut in the Basketball Champions League. Coming out of 17.0 points per contest with the Cairns Taipans in the 2023-24 edition of Oceania’s NBL and carrying more overseas experience in France, he penned a contract for the remainder of the season. The Israeli club announced his signing on Sunday.

The team coached by Amit Sherf is dealing with multiple injuries, including Shawn Dawson and Justin Smith set to remain on the sidelines over the next few weeks. The injury bug spread to Drew Crawford, Shahar Amir, and C.J. Harris, but they are expected to be available following the international break.

“He is a very special player, a great guard that can guard several positions. In offense, he is an excellent passer, creating for his teammates, and drives into the paint to finish plays,” Sherf described his new player, “I am happy and thank the staff for their work and desire to strengthen the squad and make the team as strong as possible.”

His side is looking for success in the Champions League. At 1-2 in Group L of the Round of 16, three outings are left in the six-game round-robin double-legged schedule with UCAM Murcia producing a perfect top half at 3-0, Promitheas following at 2-1, and AEK Betsson sitting at the bottom of the table with an 0-3 tally. The top two teams advance to the Quarterfinals.
