A narrow win for Hapoel Holon over UCAM Murcia to wrap up the Basketball Champions League Round of 16

By Eurohoops Team/ info@eurohoops.net

Despite trailing most of the way, Hapoel Holon recovered in the fourth quarter to take down UCAM Murcia, 64-60, in Arena Savaria on Wednesday.

Held to seven points over the last ten minutes and forced to 4-2, the Universitarios still won Group L of the Round of 16. They advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Basketball Champions League for the second consecutive season. Marko Todorovic posted a 23-point, 11-rebound double-double plus three blocks, three assists, and two steals before fouling out.

Dropping 20 points through the Gameday 6 contest, Justin Smith was not enough for the team guided by Amit Sherf to advance to the next round. Creating a new team-high with three straight BCL wins coincides with the conclusion of the continental campaign. Besides unavailable Yotam Hanochi (illness), Deondre Burns and Shawn Dawson did not play. Also, Netanel Artzi did not return after a foot injury late in the third period.

Returning to action after spending three months on the injury list, Ludvig Hakanson registered one rebound in ten minutes in a losing effort. Fellow Swedish import Simon Birgander remained sidelined and Howard Sant-Roos sat out due to left knee soreness.

Postgame press conference

Tied for third in Spain’s Liga Endesa, the team guided by Sito Alonso is on the road versus Valencia in Round 26 of the Regular Season on Sunday. Focusing on improving a 10-7 record in Ligat Winner, the Israeli club meets Ironi Hai Motors Ness Ziona in Lev Hamoshava on Saturday.
