Things looked promising for BAXI Manresa on the road in Turkiye, facing Aliaga Petkimspor in the fourth game from Group K of this season’s Basketball Champions League Round of 16.
Heading to the final seconds of the first quarter, Diego Ocampo’s team was up by 11 points (27-16) already. That looked like a nice bounce back for the Catalans, and the conclusion of the home side’s adventure in this year’s International competition, staying winless at the bottom of the group.
Instead, Burak Goren’s didn’t surrender as they crushed the opponents 33-11 in the second quarter, performing a 17-0 scoring run to get away with the score at halftime. Finally, they won 89-86.
Several players had excellent performances for the home side, such as Damyean Dotson (20 points over an almost perfect 6/7 from the field), Wesley Van Beck (21 points over a perfect 8/8 at the line), and Breein Tyree (14 points).
On Manresa’s losing side, Cameron Hunt looked like the only one capable of bringing a victory back to Spain, as he dropped 23 points over 4/6 from two and 5/6 from three-point range.
This was the third consecutive defeat for BAXI Manresa in the Basketball Champions League Round of 16, while Petkimspor finally broke their losing streak to grab a first victory at this stage.
