Oren Amiel is in advanced talks with ERA Nymburk to replace departing Francesco Tabellini, as reported by Eurohoops’ Aris Barkas on Friday.

Amiel, 53, coached the Czech side between 2017 and 2021, and was named Basketball Champions League Best Coach of the 2019-20 season. He previously served as an assistant coach from 2011 to 2014.

Tabellini, 41, is instead leaving his role as head coach of Nymburk to take over Paris in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague and domestic competitions in France.

Replacing longtime head coach Ronen Ginzburg to launch the first stint with Nymburk, Amiel was behind two consecutive berths in the Final Eight of the Champions League. He was also crowned domestic league champion in Czechia’s NBL in each single season, as well as guiding his side to the domestic Cup title.

Apart from Nymburk, other head-coaching jobs for the Israeli tactician extend from his 2024-25 journey in Japan with the Kawasaki Brave Thunders to Brose Bamberg from 2021 to 2024, Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem in 2021, Hapoel Yokneam/Megido from 2008 to 2010, and Hapoel Galil Elion in 2006.

After bouncing back in the BCL through the Qualification Rounds and reaching the Quarterfinals, Nymburk won the NBL championship for the 21st time in team history on Monday. A midseason domestic triumph sent Tabellini’s side to the Cup for the 17th time in team history.

Moving to the 2025-26 journey, the Champions League is expected to remain the continental home for the team located near Prague.
