AEK secured a place in the Final Four of the Basketball Champions League by defeating Joventut in the decisive quarterfinal game in Athens, with a score of 72-67.
In doing so, they became the third participant in the finals, and in the semifinals, they will face Unicaja.
After the match Dragan Sakota, the coach of the Greek team, gave a statement discussing AEK’s participation in the FIBA BCL, as well as the NBA project that could come to Europe in the coming years.
“We respect the FIBA organization very much. We’re one team that has stayed with them the whole time since the beginning until now. We’d really like that one day to succeed with this project FIBA/NBA. To have FIBA on the level they used to be before EuroLeague and this program started.”
The BCL semifinals are scheduled for May 7th in Badalona.
