As a mission-driven company in France, Cholet blends community, mentorship, and environmental goals heading to the 2026–27 Basketball Champions League season

In European basketball, true success is usually measured by silverware, playoff runs, and producing elite homegrown talent. For Cholet, a club celebrated for its youth academy, the game plan is officially shifting to a much bigger arena.

On Monday, the French organization has rewritten its legal DNA, adopting the status of a ‘mission-driven company’ to explicitly bind its corporate structure to social and environmental progress.

This structural evolution unfolds just as the club prepares to balance domestic Betclic Elite duties with a demanding continental calendar. For the upcoming 2026–27 Basketball Champions League season, Cholet has been placed into Group F. They are set to clash with Hapoel Maoz Daniel Holon and Spartak Office Shoes, alongside a final challenger advancing from the Qualification Rounds.

Rather than treating corporate social responsibility as a side hustle, it is being embedded into its core identity.

“Becoming a mission-driven company means choosing to give a sustainable framework and ambition to what Cholet Basket has always championed: sporting excellence, but also youth training, mentorship, community involvement, and local roots,” explained club president Jerome Merignac. “We want our success to be measured just as much by our results on the court as by the positive impact we can generate for our region and for future generations.”

Cholet is mapping out a refreshing blueprint, proving that a sports project can remain deeply competitive while actively protecting its community.

By leveraging France’s action plan for business growth and transformation, enacted in 2019, they have declared that their ultimate triumphs must resonate far beyond the hardwood of La Meilleraie.
