Dziki Warszawa opened its Basketball Champions League Qualification Round campaign with an offensive showcase in Samokov and moved one step closer to the Regular Season.
The Polish team pulled away after halftime to defeat BK Opava 116-99 and book a place in the quarterfinals of Qualification Round Tournament 2.
Austin Luke led the winners with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting, including four three-pointers. Joseph Girard III added 18 points and seven assists, while Osun Osunniyi finished with 16 points, five rebounds and a game-high efficiency rating of 23. Zane Waterman posted 14 points and ten rebounds, as Dziki shot 60 percent from the field and had seven players in double figures.
Jakub Sirina paced Opava with 22 points, while Jan Svandrlik scored 19 and hit five three-pointers. Elijah Tucker and Bo Montgomery contributed 16 points apiece.
Dziki Warszawa will face VEF Riga in the quarterfinals on September 17. Only the winner of the 16-team tournament in Samokov will earn a spot in Group F of the BCL Regular Season alongside Hapoel Holon, Cholet and Spartak Office Shoes.
