KJ Simpson is heading to Galatasaray MCT Technic for Basketball Champions League run

By Semih Tuna/ stuna@eurohoops.net

Galatasaray MCT Technic is finalizing a deal with 24-year-old KJ Simpson, as first reported by Can Bedel on Tuesday and confirmed by Eurohoops.

The Istanbul outfit has been in the market to fill their vacant guard spot. Adding the playmaker after his recent stint with the Denver Nuggets marks a major reinforcement to the Basketball Champions League roster, early in the Regular Season of the 2026–27 continental campaign. An official announcement is expected soon.

The deal with the American point guard comes during a period of transition for the Lions. On Monday, the club decided to part ways with head coach Gianmarco Pozzecco. These changes follow a rough start to the new season. In Group B of the Basketball Champions League, Galata sits at 0–1. They also hold a 1–2 record in the Turkiye Sigorta Basketbol Super Ligi Regular Season.

Simpson is now set to take his talents to the BCL. The Los Angeles native brings valuable experience, having played 56 NBA games, including 20 appearances last year split between Charlotte and Denver. Over his career, he averaged 6.7 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.5 rebounds per contest. The Hornets drafted the Colorado product with the 42nd overall pick in 2024. While he spent long stretches in the G League, this is his first move overseas.

With the newcomer looking to make an immediate impact, the next few games are entirely critical for the club. They must secure immediate wins to prevent their W-L tallies from reaching a point of no return.
