Cholet has secured point guard JeQuan Lewis to a short-term contract, the team announced Tuesday. The move fills a gap in the backcourt after an injury to Jarrod West.

Finalized under France’s Betclic Elite regulations, the medical-cover deal prompts Cholet to soon register Lewis on domestic and continental squads. However, head coach Fabrice Lefrancois will have limited options for Wednesday’s Basketball Champions League home game against Spartak Office Shoes at La Meilleraie.

The 32-year-old playmaker brings valuable experience to the lineup, including 22 appearances in the BCL. His new side currently leads Group F of the Regular Season with a perfect 2–0 record. The roster features Malcolm Cazalon, Mohamed Diarra, Digue Diawara, Amadou Fall, Miralem Halilovic, Tom Kasongo, Lynn Kidd, Nils Lobry-Pathouot, Noah Locke, Sitraka Raharimanantoanina, Luca Rapini, Tony Snell, Aaron Towo-Nansi, and Johnathan Williams, in addition to injured West.

Cibona named their former player Ivan Tomas as the new head coach on Wednesday. The 45-year-old tactician inked a contract through the end of the 2026–27 campaign, replacing Ivan Rudez, who left last week. The Zagreb-based club holds a 1–1 record in Group B. Following the new play-caller’s debut in the AdmiralBet ABA League versus Igokea m:tel on Friday, they travel to face SIG Strasbourg at Rhenus Sport next Tuesday.

“Cibona is the club whose jersey I wore and where I became a coach, so this return has a special meaning for me,” Tomas expressed gratitude to management for their trust. “I am aware of the responsibility that the Cibona bench carries and I can’t wait to get started.”

“Our task is to be better from game to game and for the fans to recognize us as a team that fights for every possession,” he added, noting that the squad has already established team character and clear objectives.

Elsewhere in the Champions League, Galatasaray MCT Technic has sidelined 32-year-old Nikola Ivanovic due to a second-degree tear in his lower right calf. The Istanbul-based outfit is currently tied at 1–1 in Group B alongside Cibona, Strasbourg, and Legia Warszawa ahead of next Wednesday’s meeting with Poland’s Orlen Basket Liga champions at Arena COS Torwar.
