Three great defensive quarters helped Monaco get their first win in the new Basketball Champions League season against Juventus Utena (90-53).

The Lithuanian side couldn’t fight for the win despite their good first quarter effort. When Zvezdan Mitrovic’s players became aggressive on defense, the guests “disappeared” from the court. The squad that finished third last season on the competition conceded just 31 points after the first ten minutes.

Mindaugas Kupsas dropped 14 points and added 6 rebounds for Juventus, but it wasn’t enough.

The key: Juventus, did not have the lead at any moment in the game but were only down by one after 8 minutes. That was the precise moment when Monaco broke the game open with a spectacular run.

The star: Amara Sy was the games top scorer with 17 points but Elmedin Kikanovic was everywhere with 14 and also 7 rebounds.
