Thanks to a great defensive performance in the first half, Aris got their first win of the season defeating the Zielona Gora (70-64). The Polish champions cut the lead to six points in the final minutes with the game decided. The match was controlled by Aris from beginning to end.
The star: Kyle Weaver dropped 19 points and added 4 assists for the hosts. Vasilopoulos and Athinaiou paced the winners with 13 points apiece. With his team ahead 66 – 60, Vasilopoulos nailed a 3-point that got Aris at a safe distance.
Thomas Kelati kept Zielona Gora in the game with 15 points and 4/7 from behind the arc.
The key: It was all about defense for Aris. The team managed by Giannakis kept the same intensity for the first 20 minutes, where they conceded just 23 points.
