Dinamo Sassari defeated Hapoel Holon 98 – 84 after a comfortable game at home. The Italian team improved to a 2-4 record while the Israelis fell to 1-5 in Group A.
Led by Achille Polonara, the hosts arrived at the halftime with a seven-point lead thanks to a strong first quarter (51 – 44). The Italian forward finished the game with 18 points and 9 boards.
With a fluid offense, the hosts were in cruise control until the final buzzer. Hapoel Holon tried to reduce the deficit but the reaction came too late.
The key: Sassari with its best offensive performance of the season in Basketball Champions League was unstoppable.
The star: Scott Bamforth flirted with a double-double as he finished with 15 points and 9 assists. Once again, he was one of Sassari’s leaders.
TaShawn Thomas finished with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the guests.
