Zelionis, Neptunas edge Ventspils on the road

Neptunas reacted after a slow start and escaped with its sixth win of the season in Basketball Champions League.

Neptunas got a huge victory in the Basketball Champions League as they beat Ventspils on the road 84 – 69. The Lithuanian team stands on a 6-3 record now, while the Latvians are at 4-5.

The guests scored just 11 points in the first quarter but they turned the situation around in the second. Neptunas went to the locker room with its biggest lead of the half (37 – 31).

The Lithuanian team continued increasing its lead in the third with Juan Palacios doing it all. The Colombian center finished with 15 points and 7 rebounds.

Ingus Jakovics led Ventspils in scoring with 16 points in just 19 minutes on the court.

The key: A 14-2 run starting the last quarter made Neptunas’s lead too big to overcome.

The star: Edgaras Zelionis paced the winners with 19 points and 7 boards. Reinaldas Seibutis also contributed with 15 points.
