Ludwigsburg was defeated for the first time at home. The Basketball Champions League defending champs did it.

Iberostar Tenerife defeated MHP Riesen Ludwigsburg 83 – 62 after a great game on the road. The reigning champions jumped to a 7-2 record to tie the Germans in Group B standings.

The Canaries have won both their games against Ludwigsburg and started the night leading 26 – 17 at the end of the first period. Mateusz Ponitka dropped 10 of his 11 points in that quarter. After more than 6 minutes without a basket in the second period, Ludwigsburg finally scored and the guests were leading 35 – 30 at the half.

The champs increased their lead in the third quarter despite Thomas Walkup’s effort to keep things in check. Ludwigsburg’s captain paced the hosts with 20 points and 4 assists.

The key: Tenerife started the fourth period with a 10-2 run to take a 20-point lead. At the end, they enjoyed a comfortable win.

The star: Kostas Vasileiadis led the winners in scoring with 17 points. Davin White and Mike Tobey added 13 each.
