Ventspils ended Chalon’s winning streak

The Latvians was able to beat Chalon on the road on Day 10 of the Basketball Champions League thanks to their great game in the last quarter.

Elan Chalon won the last three games, but tonight their winning streak is broken by Ventspils, that prevailed 75-69. This was their fifth victory as they now have 5-5 record same as the French team.

Coming into the last quarter the hosts had minimal lead (49-48) as things heated up. Emmanuel Ubilla was sent to the foul line converting two free throws as he closed the game for Ventspils.

The Key: The visiting squad was hot down the last stretch scoring 27 points in the fourth quarter. That pushed them to the victory along with grabbing 15 rebounds more than their opponents (44-29).

The French team built a rock-solid defence in the third period of the match. The visitors had a hard time getting to the basket as they only scored 7 points in the third quarter. However, they couldn’t stay on that pace as they lost the game.

The Star: Mike Bruesewitz had a game-high for Ventspils with 14 points adding 5 rebounds as well.

Jeremy N’zeuile’s 16 points couldn’t save the day for Chalon.
