AS Monaco defeated UCAM Murcia in the Principality 83 – 73 and they are just one win away from completing a perfect group stage. The visiting team lost its sixth game of the season while Monaco won its thirteenth straight match in the Basketball Champions League.
After a slow first quarter (16 – 13), blows were exchanged in the second with both teams taking small leads. At the half, the Monegasques were up by six (41 – 35).
The key: The difference was close to double-digits (55 – 48, 27′) when Monaco closed the third quarter with a 10 – 2 run which Murcia couldn’t overcome.
Vitor Benite tried to reduce the deficit in the last quarter and ultimately finished with a game-high 22 points (5 three-pointers).
The star: Elmedin Kikanovic led the winners with 20 points in 9-of-10 shooting. Christopher Evans contributed to the victory with 19 while Gregory Lacombe, Sergiy Gladyr and Gerald Robinson also scored in double-figures.
