Medi Bayreuth got a huge win over Umana Reyer Venezia 89 – 81, a result that could be decisive in Group C. The German squad got its eighth victory of the season to stay alive in Basketball Champions League.

The key: Bayreuth had a 5-point lead (83 – 78, 38′) when the Italian champs started to commit consecutive mistakes. Turnovers, poor shooting decisions, and offensive rebounds decided the game.

After a fun-to-watch first quarter (34 – 26) with both teams scoring in every possession, Venezia slowed down the game and reduced the deficit to 51 – 49.

The second half continued as entertaining as the first with Bayreuth increasing the lead (69 – 63) despite Hrvoje Peric, who had 14 points and 11 rebounds with one quarter left. The Croatian finished with 16 and 14.

The star: Gabe York redeemed himself after scoring just 5 points last week. The American playmaker led the winners with 24 points and 5 assists.
