The Polish forward started “red hot” the third quarter and Tenerife got the road win over Neptunas in the Basketball Champions League.

The defending champions finish in the first spot of Group B after the road win in Lithuania. Iberostar Tenerife prevailed over Neptunas Klaipeda 83 – 67 to continue its winning streak while the hosts finished fourth with a 7-7 record.

A 1 – 13 run in the second quarter made it a close contest (37 – 36, 19′) but Tenerife managed a 43 – 38 lead at the break.

The key: Mateusz Ponitka scored 12 points for the champs in the first four minutes of the second half and they reached 14-point advantage (57 – 40, 24′). Tenerife kept a double-digit lead during the rest of the game

The star: Ponitka finished with 24 points on 8-of-9 shooting, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Mike Tobey contributed to the win with 15 points and 8 boards.

Vytautas Sulskis had 21 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists for Neptunas.
