Juventus Utena edged UCAM Murcia on the road 70 – 56. The Spanish team has lost the last three games but they finished fourth in Group A while the Lithuanian side is qualified to the Europe Cup.
A strong defensive performance led Juventus to a 37 – 28 advantage at the break despite Vitor Benite’s 14 first-half points. The Brazilian international finished with game-high 21 points.
The visiting side needed a win if they wanted to fight for a spot in the Europe Cup and they tried to make it possible. Juventus reached a 20-point lead (55 – 35) with ten minutes left.
Ibon Navarro’s men slightly reduced the deficit in the fourth but couldn’t do much more.
The key: Juventus received just 35 points in three quarter playing on the road. It was like they put Lithuanian wall on their defense.
The star: LaRon Dendy and Mindaugas Kupsas led the winners with 15 points apiece.
