Although Hapoel Jerusalem announced the signing of Amare Stoudemire earlier on Sunday, Stoudemire commented on an Instagram photo of the team, simply stating that he has not signed with the team yet.

The 35-year-old power forward said the following on Instagram: This is false. This is not true. I haven’t signed a contract. Sorry fans. This is not true. Sorry for the confusion fans, but I will be speaking to Hapoel Jerusalem.”

On the other hand, the team’s announcement following the confusion, states that Amare informed the club’s front office that he will not play in the NBA, and thus will sign with Hapoel Jerusalem: “During the last week Amare informed the club’s ownership unambiguously that should he not sign with an NBA team he will play join Hapoel Jerusalem, as a result, the club made an official announcement.”

Finally, via an official announcement, Hapoel Jerusalem apologized to the American player, staying that they hope to have him on the roster by the start of next season: “If Amare was hurt by the timing of the announcement we apologize and we’re sure that he’ll join us next season should he not play in the NBA”.

Either way, it looks like Amare Stoudemire as of Sunday, July 1, is not part of Hapoel Jerusalem. At least… not yet.
