Following the 2018-19 Basketball Champions League Draw, the competition’s CEO Patrick Comninos made statements in regards to the competition’s level as well as its financial transparency.

“The level of the organization is very high. There are no easy rivals and easy draws. Teams are aware of this. They mostly look out for the trips, the schedule, and less for the opponents because they are all fairly equal”, Comninos says.

Comninos sends out a message about the competition’s transparency: “We have four very competitive clubs where it is difficult to predict who will qualify and that is the beauty of BCL. This is the big message that we are sending through, all teams have equal chances and the ability to end up in the conquest of the trophy.”

The CEO of the competition also addresses the financial factor and the support of the teams: “The economic data is fairly clear. From the very first day of our establishment, what we do is to display the data in complete transparency so that everyone knows what is being distributed. AEK received a check of one million after winning the trophy, Monaco will get 400,000, Murcia 200,000 and MHP Riesen 120,000. We are quite clear about this. They know what expenses we cover, what obligations do we and those have. This is in line with the very good relationship we have with the teams”, he concludes.
