The winner of last season’s Basketball Champions League, AEK, got a morale boost after beating Panathinaikos in the OPAP basketball tournament in Cyprus.

The final score was 82-81 thanks to a big three by Jonas Maciulis who scored in total 22 points. Panathinaikos was missing key players due to the FIBA World Cup qualifiers, among them the two best point guards of the team, Greek Nick Calathes and Lithuanian Lukas Lekavicius.

Matt Lojeski scored 20 points for the losing side and Keith Langford added 17, but he missed the last shot of the game.

Vince Hunter and Charis Giannakopoulos added 14 points each for AEK.
