Patrick Comninos was present in the game between Virtus Bologna and medi Bayreuth and he took the opportunity to address some key issues with the local press.

As he said: “We are starting our third season, some numbers are very encouraging, we see tremendous interest in social media, there’s a young generation of basketball fans that are following the Champions League. We expect to grow, we expect to continue to work with the clubs that are doing good in their domestic competitions. We are putting a value on what’s happening every week in the domestic competitions”.

The synergy between the local leagues and the clubs is paramount for Comninos: “We are collaborating with the leagues because we don’t know who is going to play in the BCL each season. But when this is competition organized by the clubs, for the clubs”.

Speaking about the EuroLeague, Comninos explained: “It’s not about right or wrong. It’s a different philosophy. We are supporting domestic leagues. Basketball is not played by 11 clubs in Europe, but by more than 600 clubs. We are creating an environment in which all of those clubs can play in a high-level competition. The current situation creates an environment in which all clubs, with very few exceptions, are losing money”.
