Despite Kendrick Perry and Vladimir Dragicevic absences, Nizhny Novgorod beat Le Mans to score its second victory in Group A of the Basketball Champions League.

The Russians now have the same number of wins as the French club. The positive result could prove an important step towards qualifying to the next round.

Nizhny was unstoppable inside from the beginning of the Day 5 match. It took a commanding 20-8 lead in the first quarter with an impressive presence in the paint and sat comfortably in the drivers’ seat until the end. The visitors weren’t able to come back into the game.

Ivan Strebkov led the way with 15 points and 6/7 of the total 20/26 two pointers of his team. He also dished 9 assists on his way for a very strong 23 ranking. Christopher Czerapowicz also scored 15 points. Roderick Odom and Sergey Toropov added 11 points each.

The total for Le Mans’ two top scorers, Demetrius Conger, and Wilfried Yeguete was 13 points each. Richard Hendrix and Cameron Clark finished the game with 10 points each.
