Tony Taylor, Bologna ward off Besiktas and stay undefeated

Despite many ups and downs, Bologna managed to stop Besiktas’ comebacks and prevail in the end.

Although Besiktas Sompo Japan was close to overtaking the game multiple times, Segafredo Virtus Bologna managed to stay ahead and record a 94-90 road win on Day 5 of Basketball Champions League.

Tony Taylor scored 21 points for the victors while Pietro Aradori added 16 (4/6 triples) in addition to Kevin Punter’s 15 points (3/3 triples). Brian Qvale flirted with a double-double by notching 15 points and nine rebounds.

For Besiktas, Kyle Gibson scored game-high 22 points along with seven assists while Ivan Buva added 12 points.

After a balanced first quarter in which Besiktas had an upper hand (21-19), Bologna went ahead for their first double-digit lead (41-31) but the Turks recovered a bit before halftime (47-41).

Besiktas managed to decrease the deficit to a two-point margin multiple times (66-64; 80-78; 90-88) but the Italian team didn’t let them take over the lead and stayed in front until the end securing the victory.

Bologna stayed perfect with 5-0 at the top of Group D while Besiktas now holds a 1-4 record.
