Demetris Nichols and Caleb Green put on strong performances as they helped Avellino survive Banvit’s comeback effort.

Sidigas Avellino managed to survive Banvit’s comeback and get a narrow 99-95 home win on Day 5 of Basketball Champions League.

Demetris Nichols shot 9/11 from the field on his way to 24 points while also adding seven rebounds and six assists before sitting on the bench due to fifth personal foul with 2.5 minutes left to play.

Caleb Green had his back as he flirted with a double-double by notching 23 points and grabbing nine rebounds for Avellino while Ariel Filloy added 16 points.

On the other side, Alex Perez scored 23 points while also adding eight rebounds and dishing six assists. Ragip Atar helped with 17 points.

The crowd enjoyed an offensive feast from both teams as they played a highly efficient game. Already after ten minutes, the score was 33-30 in the hosts’ favor and they kept going. They were up by 59-52 at halftime and after the break, they had a 14-point advantage (71-57).

Although Avellino had the lead throughout all forty minutes, Banvit did close in on them decreasing the deficit to just one point (90-89) with three minutes left. However, the Italian squad managed to keep calm, stay ahead and secure the win.

Avellino improved to 4-1 while Banvit stands at 3-2 record in Group A.
