AEK had to toughen up to achieve victory over Telenet Giants Antwerp in the Lotto Arena.

AEK turned the game around in the third period and escaped with a 71-64 away victory over Antwerp in a Basketball Champions League Group C match. The defending champions fell in a 11-point hole, but regained the lead with a 13-1 spurt they finished in the beginning of the fourth period. They also needed a strong finish after the home team’s 58-57 lead in the last quarter to get the “W”.

In-form Vince Hunter started with 10 points in the first period and finished the match with 17. Giannoulis Larentzakis buckets down the stretch got to him to 16 points and Dusan Sakota added 10. Tyler Kalinoski notched 15 points for Roel Moors’ side.

AEK’s sixth straight BCL victory lifted Luca Banchi’s club up to 6-1, while the home team dropped to 3-4.
