Lietkabelis got a 12-point advantage in the first half and later created a 15-point lead staying on course for its 78-67 win over Fuenlabrada in the Basketball Champions League Group C Day 7 match played at Cido Arena. Nestor Garcia’s club had its moments, never gave up, but didn’t grab the “W” in Lithuania.
Simas Jasaitis sank five three-pointers and scored a total of 17 points. The 36-year-old forward also grabbed eight rebounds and came off with a 25 efficiency rating. Vaidas Kariniauskas posted 13 points, Saulius Kulvietis 12 and Paulius Valinskas 11. Francisco Cruz notched 20 points for the losing side.
Nenad Canak’s team got back on the win column and finished the first round of BCL’s group stage at 3-4. The Spaniards fell to 3-4 with their fourth consecutive loss.
