Segafredo Virtus Bologna escaped hot Dimitris Tofalos Arena with a 95-85 victory against Promitheas Patras in the two clubs’ Basketball Champions League Week 7 Group D match. The visitors didn’t lose their lead after the home team’s 5-0 start, but they ultimately scored the “W” a lot harder than the final result suggests.

Promitheas dug their way out of a two-figure hole after Makis Giatras ejection in the third quarter and tied the game up at 70. However the Italians held on with clutch buckets down the stretch and in the final minutes rebuilt a double-digit lead.

Pietro Aradori notched 23 points and a 25 efficiency rating in a hostile atmosphere, while Brian Qvale added 16 points and Kevin Punter 13. Michalis Tsairelis scored 21 and Christos Saloustros 16 for the home team.

Stefano Sacripanti’s team became the first in BCL history with a 7-0 start in its first season. The Greeks finished the group stage’s first round sitting at 5-2.
