PAOK beat Venezia, 77-76, in the two teams’ Basketball Champions League Group B Round 8 meeting. The Greeks strolled in the first half, but struggled to get back their rhythm in the second and secure their fifth straight BCL victory on Wednesday at the PAOK Sports Arena.

A 14-point lead become a six-point disadvantage early in the fourth quarter. However the Greeks reacted and with stellar play down the stretch secured the “W”.

Phil Goss sank a clutch three on his way for a total of 20 points against his former team. Linos Chrysikopoulos posted 14, so did Yanick Moreira who had 12 in the first period. Deron Washington’s and MarQuez Haynes’ 15 points weren’t enough for the visitors, while Austin Daye only played 14 minutes due to foul trouble.

Ilias Papatheodorou’s team is now up to 5-3. The Italians fell to 5-3 but got the tiebreaking advantage.
