Sizzling Tomas Delininkaitis, Neptunas hand Bologna first loss

Tomas Delininkaitis found the ‘groove’ and led Neptunas past Bologna, handing the Italians first loss in Basketball Champions League.

Tomas Delininkaitis was on fire from deep as he helped Neptunas Klaipeda bounce back and win 88-85 against Segafredo Virtus Bologna on Day 8 of Basketball Champions League.

This was the Italian team’s first loss in BCL but they still hold the top of Group D with a 7-1 record while Neptunas improved to 4-4.

Delininkaitis led the charge with game-high 26 points (6/8 triples) while Jerai Grant followed with 18 points and nine rebounds flirting with a double-double. Laimonas Kisielius helped with ten points.

For Bologna, Amath M’Baye scored 20 points in addition to Tony Taylor’s 20 points and seven assists while Kevin Punter added 13 points.

Bologna was ahead 22-16 after ten minutes and the same margin until halftime (47-41). They went ahead 59-47 after the break but Neptunas recovered and with an 11-0 run took over the lead early in the fourth quarter (73-67). The game stayed close but the hosts managed to hold on until the end for the win.
