Promitheas didn’t expect an easy win against Bayreuth, but really needed the “W”. The Greeks had the Dimitris Tofalos Arena advantage and big chunks of Rion Brown explosiveness on their way to the 95-83 victory in the Basketball Champions League Regular Season Group D Gameday 10 match.

Brown, 27, led the way with 31 points (12/14 2PTS), Octavius Ellis added 18, while Oleksandr Lypovyy and Leonidas Kaselakis sank 13 points apiece and Nikos Gkikas notched a 10-point, 11-assist double-double. The hosts gained their first double-digit lead in the last quarter, but seemed to control the game throughout the 40 minutes.

The crucial win towards a playoffs spot brought Makis Giatras’ team to a 7-3 record and secured the tiebreaking advantage over the Germans. Raoul Korner’s club fell to 4-6 with its second consecutive BCL loss despite De’Mon Brooks‘ 19 points.
