Ziga Dimec keeps Lietkabelis alive and Bamberg in the hunt

Lietkabelis avoided elimination and didn’t allow Brose Bamberg to qualify with three Regular Season games to go.

Lietkabelis beat Bamberg, 84-67, in the Basketball Champions League Regular Season Group C Day 11 match. The hosts saw their double-digit lead trimmed during the first and the second half, but held on to snap a three-game BCL losing streak.

Ziga Dimec led the way with a Champions League personal-best 16 points. The 25-year-old Slovenian center made 5/6 from the field and 6/6 free throws. Paulius Valinskas had 11 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.

Nenad Canak’s team advanced to 4-7 and avoided elimination. The Lithuanians also prevented Federico Perego’s club from qualifying during Gameday 11.

The visitors dropped to 7-4 with their defeat at the Cido Arena. Elias Harris scored a team-high 13 points, Ricky Hickman followed with 11 points and Stevan Jelovac finished with 10.
