Sidigas Avellino failed once again to secure a Basketball Champions League playoffs ticket after its home loss to Le Mans.

Le Mans achieved an important 81-68 victory against Avellino at the Palasport Giacomo Del Mauro. Eric Bartecheky’s team finished with only four turnovers to improve its chances for a playoff ticket. The French Champions brought their Group A record to 6-7 and secured the tiebreaking advantage over the Italians in the process.

The visitors built a commanding lead with an 18-4 run during the third quarter and held on the rest of the way. Michael Thompson led a group a five double-digit players with 19 points.

Nenad Vucinic’s club failed to ensure its spot in the February 8th draw dropping to 7-6 with its third straight BCL loss, fifth in all competitions. Ojars Silins sank five shots beyond the arc for 15 points and Caleb Green had 14 points, but weren’t enough for the “W”.
