Attendances records are among those meant to be broken, especially with AEK fans around.

AEK lost to PAOK, 62-63, last Wednesday, but progressed to the Basketball Champions League quarterfinals. The support from their fans was there and certainly helped Luca Banchi’s side go through. Well that was kind of an understatement, as the Round of 16 Gameday 2 contest at Athens set a new BCL attendance record for all games in competition history besides the Final Fours, the former belonging to AEK as well.

Taking a closer look at the Top 10 attendances in the Champions League one realizes that five home games of the yellow and blacks are in the list. Last year’s Final Four matches are first and second, the recent game versus PAOK is third and last season’s playoff contest against SIG Strasbourg sits in fourth place. The 11.650 attendance in the game with the Queen’s Greek rivals narrowly surpassed the 11.000 against the French club to mark the new record outside the Final Fours.
