During the successful FIBA Europe Cup Final Four held in Tel Aviv, FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak welcomed several questions from Israel Hayom, ranging from various topics to the known issues with Euroleague Basketball.

“We are open to collaboration but we need to protect the sport”, he said, “Without a vision, sports will cease to exist. Currently, many teams are lacking a solid plan for the future. Without a future, there is no motivation, therefore teams can’t find partners to help. The hope and vision push teams to develop players and the players to work hard in smaller clubs to reach bigger clubs.”

“Every sport has its top clubs. But other clubs aspire to make it to the top too,” he previously explained, “They require a path with hope and vision to find the sponsors and the players necessary to achieve their goals. The fans did not want anything damaging that competition. That competition is what drives everyone to work harder and improve. That is what fans pay money to watch.”

Ironi Nes Ziona captured the FIBA Europe Cup title prevailing in the championship game marking a large success for Israeli basketball.
