The wait is almost over. The FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup 2026 gets underway on Friday, September 4, bringing together the world’s best national teams for ten days of elite international basketball in Berlin.
The tournament will run through September 13, with 16 teams competing across 36 games as Germany hosts the competition for the second time in history. The group phase will be played at the Berlin Arena and Max-Schmeling-Halle, before the decisive stages move to the Berlin Arena.
But for fans unable to make it to Berlin, there will be several ways to follow the tournament from home.
Where to watch the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup
The main international streaming option is Courtside 1891, FIBA’s official digital platform. According to FIBA, the service will offer live games as well as on-demand replays, although geographical restrictions may apply in certain territories.
FIBA also advises viewers to check the broadcaster listed on the individual game pages, since local television partners may not necessarily show every match.
For viewers in Spain, the tournament will have particularly strong coverage of the national team. Spain’s games will be available live on Teledeporte and Movistar Plus+, while Courtside 1891 will provide coverage of matches that are not available through local broadcasters.
In the United States, coverage will be available through TNT and TruTV for selected games, while the complete tournament will be available to stream on HBO Max, according to current U.S. broadcast information.
Because broadcasting agreements differ from country to country, international fans should check FIBA’s official broadcaster directory before each game.
The 2026 edition represents an important expansion for women’s international basketball. The field has grown from 12 teams to 16, reflecting the continued growth of the women’s game around the world.
The teams have been divided into four groups:
- Group A: Japan, Spain, Germany, Mali
- Group B: Hungary, Korea, Nigeria, France
- Group C: Belgium, Australia, Puerto Rico, Türkiye
- Group D: USA, Czechia, Italy, China
The group stage begins on September 4 and concludes on September 7.
The four group winners will qualify directly for the quarter-finals. Teams finishing second and third will have to survive a single-elimination qualification game for the quarter-finals, creating an additional layer of drama before the final eight are confirmed.
When are the knockout games?
The qualification games for the quarter-finals will be played on September 8 and 9, followed by the quarter-finals on September 10.
The semi-finals are scheduled for September 12, while the bronze-medal game and the World Cup final will take place on September 13.
From the quarter-finals onwards, the competition will be staged at the Berlin Arena, providing the tournament with a single focal point for its decisive matches.
