Despite the presence of Reggio Emilia, Sassari and Trento in London for the Euroleague meeting, the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) insists that those teams are not going to play in Eurocup.

According to FIP’s press release: “In relation to the statement issued by the Euroleague, the Italian Basketball Federation clarifies that yesterday Reggio Emilia, Sassari and Trento sent the FIP a letter in which they communicate that they will not comply with the agreement reached with ECA for the Eurocup competition. Also, as it was mentioned in the previous press release concerning the federal council held in Rome, the FIP has established the criteria for admission to the championship for the 2016/2017 season. In order for a team to be admitted to the league, it must participate only in international events recognized by FIBA”.
