FIBA, which was founded in 1932, turned 85 on June 18. At the time, it marked the milestone by hosting the third edition of the FIBA Open – an annual event taking place during the weekend closest to FIBA’s anniversary – at the House of Basketball and indicated another major celebration would come at the end of September to coincide with the Induction Ceremony of FIBA’s Hall of Fame Class of 2017.

The additional celebrations will consist of an official gala dinner in Geneva on Friday night that will bring all participants – from across FIBA’s five regions – together, under the auspices of FIBA President Horacio Muratore and FIBA Secretary General and International Olympic Committee (IOC) Member Patrick Baumann.

On Saturday night, the 6 players, 1 coach and 1 team making up the star-studded 2017 Class of the FIBA Hall of Fame will be inducted during a special ceremony at FIBA’s headquarters on the outskirts of Geneva.
