The NINERS Chemnitz made history in the 2024 FIBA Europe Cup.

Per the press release: “NINERS Chemnitz celebrated winning their first-ever European title after defeating Bahcesehir College in the 2024 FIBA Europe Cup Finals.

The German club completed a 180-179 aggregate triumph, despite suffering a dramatic 105-95 overtime defeat in Wednesday’s second leg in Istanbul.

NINERS had trailed by as many as 19 points on the night, with their 85-74 victory from the first leg proving invaluable as they held their nerve in the extra period in a frantic finish.

Kaza Kajami-Keane earned the honor of Finals MVP after exploding for a Finals record 29 points in the second leg to average 20.0 points, 3.5 assists and 1.5 steals across the two legs to inspire the NINERS success.

As for Bahcesehir, they had been aiming to become the first club to win the competition for a second time – following on from their 2022 triumph – but came up agonizingly short in the Finals. Jerry Boutsiele top scored with 24 points in the win in front of a home crowd of 11,278.

NINERS finished the campaign with a 15-3 record, and as the second team from Germany to lift the FIBA Europe Cup trophy; Fraport Skyliners were the first-ever winners in the inaugural 2015-16 season”.
