Three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion Mac McClung is in advanced negotiations with Spanish club FIATC Girona, as reported by insider Chema de Lucas on Wednesday.
Rumored to be considering overseas options throughout the offseason, this could mark a pivotal transition in the 27-year-old guard’s career. Standing at 1.88 meters, McClung is currently an unrestricted free agent following a 2025–26 season split between the Chicago Bulls and their G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls. Despite his explosive athleticism and domestic success, including an iconic three-year dominance of the NBA’s premier exhibition showcase from 2023 to 2025, a return to the North American minor leagues offers little remaining upward mobility for the decorated playmaker.
The most recent campaign solidified his status as a legendary figure in the G League. In March, he went from a 54-point showing to delivering yet another breathtaking performance by scoring a career-high 59 points in a single game, a milestone that officially crowned him the NBA G League’s all-time leading scorer. His historic season culminated in his second career Most Valuable Player award.
