Wurzburg, Sassari to meet in FIBA Europe Cup finals

A long FIBA Europe Cup season with numerous Basketball Champions League transfers will come down to s.Oliver Wurzburg and Dinamo Sassari.

Both s.Oliver Wurzburg and Dinamo Sassari coupled their wins over Pallacanestro Varese and UNET Holon, respectively, to sweep the FIBA Europe Cup Semifinals home-and-away series and advance to the finals. The two winning sides will meet on 24th of April and 1st of May in the two-game finals.

The German team progressed first with the 89-86 win on Wednesday, which drew up the 178-152 result on aggregate. Six players were in double-digits with Cameron Wells and Jordan Hulls sharing a team-high 13 points. Thomas Scrubb poured 29 points for the visitors.

Sassari combined its 94-89 victory at Israel with the 105-75 rout in Italy. Achille Polonara with 17 points, Rashawn Thomas and Tyrus McGee with 16 apiece led the way in the second match of the series. Corey Walden had 19 points for the losing side.
