The four teams taking the court at Carioca 1 Arena, the iconic venue that hosted the Olympic Basketball Tournament in 2016, are: 2018 NBA G League champions Austin Spurs; Basketball Champions league title holders AEK (Greece); DIRECTV Liga de las Americas title holders San Lorenzo de Almagro (Argentina); tournament hosts Flamengo, who are the last Brazilian team to win both the DIRECTV Liga de las Americas and FIBA Intercontinental Cup in the same year (2014).
