Jaime Fernandez revealed that burglars broke into his house but did not steal his 2019 FIBA World Cup gold medal. The Unicaja Malaga point guard shared the curious story as a guest star of Monday’s “Colgados del Aro” edition.

While on the road with his club, the robbers entered his house at Malaga stole many items, as he noted on the YouTube program, but missed out on his gold medal. “At least they were respectful,” he mentioned.

Fernandez was awarded the gold medal by the Spanish Federation for his contribution during the qualifying games ahead of the 2019 FIBA World Cup held in China.

He was not part of the final World Cup squad but experienced the triumph as one of the 12 world champions. “I felt like I was watching from the bench. It was a great joy for me,” he said.
