Releasing a list of 14 players to start preparations for FIBA’s approaching international window, the Hellenic Basketball Federation reserved the right for additional call-ups concerning players of Turkish Airlines EuroLeague teams.

Dimitris Agravanis, Vassilis Charalampopoulos, Charis Giannopoulos, Nikos Gkikas, Costis Gontikas, Dimitris Kaklamanakis, Leonidas Kaselakis, Dimitris Moraitis, Vassilis Mouratos, Omiros Netzipoglou, Nikos Rogkavopoulos, Christos Saloustros, Michalis Tsairelis, and Giorgos Tsalmpouris will gather in Athens for practice under the instructions of lead assistant Sotiris Manolopoulos on Monday, as announced Friday.

A potential incorporation of players attached to EuroLeague teams and presumably Fenerbahce Beko play-caller Dimitris Itoudis taking over head-coaching duties in the official games extending the run in the 2023 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers will be clarified in the next few days, as noted in the press release.

In the next batch of World Cup Qualifiers, Greece is scheduled to take on Latvia in Iraklio and Belgium in Mons on 11 and 14 November, respectively. Round 7 of the 2022-23 EuroLeague Regular Season stretches from 9 to 11 November with Greek giant Panathinaikos set to play host to Cazoo Baskonia the same day Greece starts the window. All remaining Greek players and coaches will be on EuroLeague duty one day earlier, Thursday.

Carrying a 4-2 W-L tally, Greece sits second in Group I of Europe’s World Cup Qualifiers. National teams securing the top three seeds will clinch a berth in the World Cup to be held from 25 August to 10 September in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia.
