The countdown toward the 2023 FIBA World Cup keeps on decreasing, and now the date of the competition’s draw has been officialized.

On April 29, 2023, the World Cup Groups with all 32 participating teams will be discovered.

FIBA’s full statement:

The 32 teams chasing glory at next year’s FIBA Basketball World Cup in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia will on April 29 discover just how exciting their paths will be at the tournament.

That’s when the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 Draw will be held in Manila, the Philippines. The draw will serve as the centerpiece of a broad program of activities scheduled throughout the weekend in the city, which is hosting two Group Phase venues for FIBA’s flagship event, and the final stage.

Those attending the draw will have visits to the Final Phase venue – the Philippine Arena – and the two Manila Group Phase venues for the teams drawn to play there – Mall of Asia Arena and Araneta Coliseum – and to the practice facilities and team hotels, on April 29 and April 30, respectively.

National Federation workshop will also be held on April 30.

The National Federations whose teams are drawn in the other two Group Phase venues in Okinawa (Japan) and Jakarta (Indonesia), will have visits to game venues, practice facilities, and team hotels in May.

The World Cup tips off on August 25 and concludes on September 10.

Seventeen of the countries taking up spots at the World Cup are already known with the remaining 15 to be determined in February, during the last international qualifying window”.
