Slovenia has revealed its preliminary list of 20 players who will begin preparations for the upcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup, featuring Dallas Mavericks‘ star Luka Doncic.

Goran Dragic did not make the list as he has decided to retire from international play, and Slovenia will also be without their injured Edo Muric.

Jaka Blazic and Miha Lapornik return to the team after recovering from injuries, and Gregor Hrovat will once again don the Slovenian jersey. The only new addition is Aljaz Kunc.

Newly crowned NBA champion Vlatko Cancar is also included, along with two naturalized players. However, Sekulic will need to choose between Jordan Morgan and Mike Tobey.

Full list: Jaka Blazic, Sasa Ciani, Vlatko Cancar, Jakob Cebasek, Ziga Dimec, Luka Doncic, Zoran Dragic, Gregor Glas, Gregor Hrovat, Urban Klavzar, Alijaz Kuncs, Miha Lapornik, Jurij Macura, Blaz Mahkovic, Jordan Morgan, Aleksey Nikolic, Bine Prepelic, Klemen Prepelic, Ziga Samar, Mike Toby.

Slovenia will commence their training on July 17 and play seven games during the preparation period, including three matches in front of their home fans.

As the Group F holders (Okinawa), Slovenia will face Venezuela, Georgia, and Cape Verde in the initial stage of the upcoming World Cup.
